Our Mission Statement

RASAC’s Mission, Values, Aims and Ethics

Our Misson:

To work towards the elimination of rape, sexual and domestic violence in society.

Our Values:

Accessibility – RASAC’s Support Services are for all who have experienced rape, sexual and domestic violence. As such, we are committed to ensuring that our services are consistently accessible to all.

Confidentiality – RASAC is committed to providing a confidential Support Service’s for its Service Users. We believe confidentiality is of paramount importance in any and all aspects of the work undertaken by any worker involved in RASAC. 

Empathy – We treat our Service User’s with understanding and compassion and strive to consistently be aware, and sensitive to their experiences, feelings and thoughts.

Empowerment – We endeavour to empower people who have experienced trauma to recognise they are experts in their own healing and recovery. We will never tell a Service User what they should do; people have the right to make their own decisions.

Equality – RASAC is an inclusive and impartial confidential service for all. We recognise that our Service Users can be discriminated against because of; age, ability, gender, religion, ethnicity, race and sexual orientation. We are committed to fighting for the rights of all and strive for equality and inclusivity.

Feminism – Rape, Sexual and Domestic Violence are both a cause and consequence of patriarchy and gender inequality. We are proud to be a feminist organisation in which women work collaboratively to fight for the rights and equality of all women, girls, trans and non-binary people.

Non-Judgemental – We never judge or make assumptions about a Service User’s experiences, feelings or thoughts. We are guided by those we support.

Respect – At RASAC everyone is treated with dignity and respect. We respect an individual’s experiences and resilience and at all times you will be believed.

Trust and Belief – At RASAC our Service Users can trust us to provide therapeutic spaces, where they and believed and can feel safe to heal and recover. We work transparently to encourage our Service Users and organisations alike to view us as a service with integrity.

Our Aims:

Therapeutic Support – To provide accessible, trauma informed varied and flexible therapeutic pathways to heal and recover, that address the trauma of rape, sexual and domestic violence.

Advocacy Support – To provide support for people in making informed decisions, exploring their views and needs and regaining or maintaining power and control over their own lives.

Participation – To overcome all barriers to provide people who have experienced rape, sexual and domestic violence a voice through promotion of Service User involvement.

Prevention – To transform societal attitudes and beliefs surrounding rape, sexual and domestic violence, through raising awareness and working collaboratively with local organisations.

Our Ethics:

RASAC is a registered BACP charity. All of our counsellors are either registered, or accredited, BACP members, skilled in working with issues of rape, sexual and domestic violence.
